Visitors

We had a special treat this weekend. Some of Mom and Dad's friends from Dallas and Houston stayed with us. They brought their kids, who were 4 years old and 1 year old. We had a total of five adults, 3 kids, and 2 dogs in our house. It was really fun having other kids my age to play with. Saturday night, all of the grown-ups went out to eat (Dad's friends had to buy him dinner because he won a college basketball bet) and one of Mom's friends stayed home to babysit all of us kids. Of course, I was asleep before Mom and Dad left, so it wasn't too different for me. Sunday morning, we all went out for a delicious breakfast. I had milk, as usual. I was sad to see everyone leave on Sunday. It was neat having so many people in our house.

And we're off!

We had a great Saturday morning this weekend. I had a feeling fun things were coming, so I woke up bright and early, and Mom took me for my first run. It was pretty easy for me - she did the hard part. I rode in our new jogging stroller and Mom pushed. The highlight of the ride was when we found a soft, fluffy kitten. It walked over to Mom and purred, so she held it up so I could really see it while she petted it. Mom says we'll be fast soon, and we'll enter a race in a couple of months. I can't wait! Vroooom!

After that, we went home, woke Daddy up, and went back to the farm. I wanted to see what the chickens do on the weekend and Mom wanted to show Dad the strawberry fields. Unfortunately, it was cold and drizzly, but we got some more good strawberries and we'll go back again one day when it's sunnier. Another thing that was fun about the visit was we ran into some friends who knew us from the Internet but we'd never met before. They gave me a Rice windbreaker a few months ago, and it was nice to finally meet them in person.

On the farm

On Saturday mornings, Mom and I (and Dad, Peepa and Matty, when they can make it) walk to the end of our street to go to Miguel's farm stand. We talk to the farmer, who drives about 45 minutes to come to our neighborhood each week, and get vegetables and eggs from him. Miguel is very nice and his sweet potatoes are delicious!

Today we did something even more fun. This morning Mom and I visited with some of our friends at a real farm! Mom told me we were going to see it, and when we drove through an urban neighborhood, I couldn't believe that's where she was taking me. But suddenly, out of the blue, there it was - a little oasis right in the middle of East Austin. I loved it! I got to see where they grow lettuce and other greens and flowers, and I helped Mom pick strawberries. The best part though, was I got to watch some chickens. They are so cool, I could have watched them all day long! I can't wait to go back.

Since I last posted, I've been working on my funny faces and more silly screams, especially in my Jumperoo. You can see pictures of my hilarious faces, as well as more farm photos, here.

Also, at the beginning of last week Mom noticed I was growing a new tooth. When she took a closer look, she realized there were two new ones sprouting in the top front of my mouth. Today, when I opened my mouth really wide to laugh at her, she learned that there are really three coming in up there. I am full of fun surprises!

Fun weekend

We had a great weekend. I finally found out what Dad does at work all day when Mom and I visited him at his office at the end of the day Friday. It seems all they do there is eat pie! Dad said it was because 3.14 is Pi Day, but I'm not sure I believe him. Anyway, it was fun meeting all Dad's colleagues and Dad and Mom had fun eating lots of pie. Once again they did not share with me. It was nice seeing Dad at work and it was a fun way to kick off the weekend.

Saturday morning we went to a birthday party for one of my friends. It was a gorgeous day and the party was at a park. I slept through a lot of it but Mom said the cupcakes were good.

It was so pretty out, we couldn't stay inside, so later in the day, we took a walk to the park in our neighborhood. Daddy took me on the swing and our dogs barked at Mom because they thought she was flying. Dad, Peepa and Matty played on the playscape. It looks fun and I can't wait to play on it. If I could only learn to walk...

Sunday we celebrated Purim at the Jewish Community Center. It was fun and there was lots to look at. There were people everywhere. There were horses and lots of bouncy things to jump on. I can't wait to try it all out next year.

Here are some photos from the weekend, and I hope you liked the video of my eight month birthday celebration dinner, above. Mmmmm.....green beans.

Chocolate Festival

This weekend Mom, Dad, and I went to the chocolate festival. Yes, its as cool as it sounds. And no, they didn't share any with me. That's why I look mad in this picture.

Wild baby

I've really been enjoying my Jumperoo lately. I've also surprised Dad and Mom with lots of other new things - I can sit up on my own, I'm starting my day a little earlier, I'm laughing more and more, and I figured out how to grab Mom's face and latch on to her cheek. It's funny watching Mom try to figure out whether I'm trying to give her a kiss or nurse from her face. I'm also growing a lot and am in a new clothing size, and last night Dad gave me a new, yummy food - acorn squash. Here are some pictures of my latest adventures.
